OUR AIM
Bell, Lamb and Trotter exists to serve the families who request our assistance, offering sympathetic, understanding and caring guidance, which is cost competitive. Our purpose is to help each family design a funeral for their loved one which is unique and personal - a service which is true to the person who has died and which reflects their life, personality, beliefs and culture. Therefore, we focus on taking our instructions from the family.
We treat the deceased with the same dignity and honour that we would want to offer our own family members.
It is our sincere wish that our families will look back at the funeral of their loved one with a sense of peace and satisfaction, knowing that they were able to experience a special farewell.

The staff at Bell, Lamb & Trotter are committed to providing you with exceptional care and attention:
24 HOURS A DAY - 365 DAYS A YEAR.

OUR HERITAGE
Bell, Lamb and Trotter Funeral Directors have been serving the people of Canterbury, since it commenced business in 1872 only twenty two years after the foundation of the colony. The company was founded by Mr James Lamb and under the management of several generations of the Lamb family, J Lamb & Son gained its reputation and identity as one of Canterbury's leading funeral directing companies.
In the mid 1970's the Company was purchased by Fred and Joy Trotter, another Canterbury family. New premises were built in Ferry Road and the company was renamed J Lamb, Trotter Funeral Directors Ltd.
Today Bell, Lamb & Trotter continues to offer the people of Canterbury professional, caring and ethical guidance, based on many years of experience and also a thorough knowledge of recent trends. Many people turn to Bell, Lamb & Trotter because it is a local family business, not owned by international corporations.
Over half a century ago, the company published a booklet entitled 'When The Need Arises'. It contained the following statement, “when you call us you bestow on us a sacred trust for the care and dignity of your loved one until laid to rest” This still typifies the service offered by the current directors, Ian and Suzanne Bell.
Bell, Lamb & Trotter Funeral Directors Ltd are members of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand. High professional and ethical standards must be achieved by members. There are only five funeral directing firms in Christchurch who are members. Membership also ensures trust protection for prepaid funeral funds. It provides training, ideas and education to ensure high standards are maintained.

SHONE AND SHIRLEY FUNERAL DIRECTORS, NELSON
In May 2005, Ian and Suzanne Bell and Craig and Tracey Hames of Christchurch, purchased this funeral home in Nelson. Ian and Suzanne, together with their love of the Nelson and Marlborough area, considered the link between Nelson and Christchurch to be advantageous to the families that these two old established funeral companies serve by working together to provide very competitive pricing combined with exceptional service.
